Gozo Sprint Duathlon – National Championships 2025 is organized by Shamrock Stars Sports Club and sanctioned by the Malta Triathlon Federation.

RACE DETAILS, RULES AND REGULATIONS:

This event will be held on Sunday the 12th of October 2025 .The Senior Race will start at 7:15 am on the main road to Gharb.

Those competing must be there 30 minutes before their respective race starts.

  • 7.15 am Race Starts – Gozo Sprint Duathlon
  • 8.45 am Tri 3 Starts
  • 9.10 am Tri 2 Starts
  • 9.40 am Tri 1 Starts

The sprint distances will be 5km (2 loops of 2.5km) Run, 20km (8 loops of 2.5km) Bike and 2.5km (1 loop) Run.

  • Cycling will be Draft Legal.
  • Female athletes can’t draft behind males and vice-versa. Lapped competitors will not be allowed to draft behind the unlapped athletes.
  • Athletes are to ensure that they will be in possession of a timing chip before the start of the race. Timing chips may be rented prior to the race.
  • The Gozo Sprint Duathlon 2025 forms part of the Malta Triathlon Federation annual programme. It is the National Sprint Duathlon Championship which carries 3500 points for TOTY 2025
  • A briefing will be held 5 minutes prior to the races
  • The Tri 3, Tri 2, Tri 1 and races will start at 8.45am
  • The distances are as indicated in the table below:

Age Groups:

Tri 1: 2016, 2015

Tri 2: 2014, 2013

Tri 3: 2012, 2011, 2010

Youths: 2009

Juniors: 2008, 2007, 2006

Youths and Juniors will be racing with the adults.

  • Fees are as follows: €20 for Tri 1, Tri 2 and Tri 3 and €30 for youths, juniors and adults.
  • All athletes must hold a valid 2025 MTF License plus insurance.
  • This National Championship Sprint Duathlon is an official MTF race event valid for the 2025 TOTY Point System.
  • Race route will be closed to traffic. Parking will not be permitted along the race route.
  • Event Hub and Transition Area is fully closed off.
  • Within the perimeter of this area, only race officials, 1 coach from each club and athletes are allowed to enter.
  • Athletes to clear the hub and transition area as soon as their race finishes.

This event is subject to permits from local authorities. Therefore if in the case there will be the cancellation of this race event no refunds will be given but instead participants will be eligible to participate for free in the next duathlon organized by Shamrock Stars Sports Club.
