Gozo Sprint Duathlon 2021 is organized by Shamrock Stars Sports Club under the supervision of the Malta Triathlon Federation.
Race Details, Rules and Regulations:
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
- This event will be held on Sunday the 25th of July 2021.
- Race will start at 7.15 am
with a briefing 10 minutes prior to the race. - The youth races will start at 9am
- The sprint distances will be 5km (2 loops of 2.5km) Run, 20km (8 loops of 2.5km) Bike and 2.5km (1 loop) Run.
- The youth races distances are as indicated in the chart below.
- Cycling will be Non Drafting
- Fees are €15 for youths and €20 for adults
- All athletes must hold a valid 2021 MTF License plus insurance.
- This sprint duathlon is an official MTF race event valid for the 2021 TOYT point system.
- Race route will be closed to traffic. Parking will not be permitted along the race route.
- Event Hub Area is fully closed off. Within the perimeter of this area, only officials and athletes are allowed to enter and this after having had their particulars and temperatures taken. Once athletes enter the area they cannot exit and they need to keep their mask on until their wave starts.
- Officials are to wear masks all the time.
- Upon arriving at the race hub, officials and athletes are subject to the following:
1. Hands sanitizing;
2. Temperature taken;
3. Submission of personal data for contact tracing. - No bags and personal belongings other than those used for the competition are to enter the competition hub.
- No water stations.
- Staggered starts of 6 people per wave.
- Maximum of 100 people including officials are to be allowed.
- Athletes attending must not be accompanied, thus to ensure no supporters – no family or friends.
- Athletes to clear the hub and competition area as soon as they finish.
- No presentations will take place.
- Spectators are not allowed anywhere inside or near the race hubs. They are not allowed to use the athletes’ toilet facilities, and they are not allowed to group anywhere near the race hubs or along the race route. Officials on the race route for safety will also keep an eye on anyone breaching the Covid-19 regulations.
- A briefing will be sent via email and shared publicly for all athletes with all the above information prior to race day.
This event is subject to permits from local authorities and SportMalta’s protocols regarding the current COVID 19 situation. Therefore if in the case there will be the cancellation of this race event no refunds will be given but instead participants will be eligible to participate for free in the next duathlon organized by Shamrock Stars Sports Club.
